RUBINSOHN TRAVEL EMAIL PITCH: REAL ID ACT

Hi xxx,

Hope all is well.

Excited travelers are now in jeopardy of a not so perfect vacation due to the approaching deadline of the REAL ID Act.  Passed by Congress in 2005, The REAL ID Act was recommended by the 9/11 Commission to “set standards for the issuance of sources of identification, such as drivers licenses.” All states are expected to enforce compliant REAL IDs on Oct. 1, 2020, with no deadline extensions. “The act established minimum security standards for state-issued driver’s licenses and identification cards and prohibits Federal agencies from accepting for official purposes license and identification cards from states that do not meet these standards.” Thus far, 26 states have proceeded with issuing the federally compliant licenses or IDs. For states that have not, beginning Jan. 22, 2018, the only forms of identification that will be accepted by the Transportation Security Administration will be permanent resident cards/green or a military ID, other acceptable forms of identification can be found on the official TSA website. Here are the states that have yet to comply and may be affected. •    Alaska •    California •    Idaho •    Illinois •    Kentucky •    Louisiana •    Maine •    Massachusetts •    Michigan •    Missouri •    New Jersey •    New York •    North Dakota •    Oklahoma •    Oregon •    Pennsylvania •    Rhode Island •    South Carolina •    Washington As well as residents from Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands could also be affect, as well as those from Virginia. Due to the change of acceptable forms, many travellers are now frustrated, and are unsure of the procedures that will help their trip go smoothly. Bill Rubinsohn, of Rubinsohn Travel located in Jenkintown, Pa, is a seasoned travel expert who is available to speak on the possible travel delays that could affect your trip. If there are any questions about how the REAL ID Act can affect your plans, or your state, Bill Rubinsohn is committed and available to ease all concerns as soon as possible.

Best,

Morgan
